About Wa’ela Tigray
Wa’Ela Tigray is an annual conference organized by the Tigray Communities Forum NA Inc. (TCFNA) since 2019, bringing Tigrayans together in a different member city each year. Beyond fostering unity, each gathering raises funds to establish a Tigray Community Center, creating a lasting resource for the local community. Wa’Ela is a welcoming space for all Tigrayans—it is a non-political and non-religious gathering that embraces everyone, whether part of the diaspora, first-generation, or newly connected to the community. Its mission is to empower the Tigrayan community by enhancing participation in local initiatives, offering educational resources, preserving cultural heritage, and promoting civic engagement.
EVENT LOCATION & Venue
Wa'Ela Tigray 2025 will be held at the Portland Expo Center, located at 2060 N Marine Dr, Portland, OR 97217. Conveniently situated off Interstate 5, the Expo Center lies between downtown Portland and Vancouver, Washington, in the Kenton neighborhood of North Portland. Portland International Airport (PDX) is just 15 minutes (9 miles) away, and the venue is also a quick 10-minute (7 miles) drive from Downtown Portland, making it easily accessible for both local and out-of-town visitors.
